Patron Captain Sir Norman Lloyd-Edwards

KCVO. GCStJ, RD* LLB. JP. RNR

As Lord Lieutenant one of the greatest honour to be bestowed on me is to be the Patron of the Vale of Glamorgan County of the Royal British Legion.

We are all aware of the excessive demands made on members of our Armed Forces. The numbers killed in the recent battles in Iraq and Afghanistan are shocking enough but we tend to forget those who are injured and sometimes extensively maimed. The latter have to contend with re-building their lives without all their limbs or mental faculties.

They and their families have to rely on external support, not always supplied by the Government.

This is where the Royal British Legion steps in. In conjunction with the other Service charities, there is a home-based team who can assist with house care, specially adapted homes, and financial help for those who served and their dependents.

This web-site tells you more of what we try to do and I hope that you will find it possible to assist in any way, not least by giving generously to the POPPY APPEAL.

The Legion’s mission is to be the leading charity safeguarding the welfare, Interests and memory of those who have served in the Armed Forces.
